Lynne’s NECCC Conference Experience

To everyone at HDP I would first like to say, “Thank you so much!!!!!”

I attended the NECCC as the camera club’s rep and may I say it was more than I could have imagined. I cannot wait for next year!!

Now I would like to reach out and talk to anyone out there who has not yet gone. This is such a wonderful event that I myself for several years was not sure if I could really benefit or fit by attending. The answer is YES!! There were three days of fun and learning on almost every aspect of photography.

You will be surrounded by people who all share similar interests and want to gather as much info as they can. They are willing to share experiences as well. The workshops were set up for all levels of photographers and the photo presentations were more than adequate. I honestly think I could have used a couple more days!!

The speakers were very willing to share as much as they could; answer all the questions asked of them; and share their websites. And, lets not forget all the photo ops!! They were fun and informative.

Then there were the bargains – everything you could possibly want for your camera at great discounts!! If that was not enough I got to chat with so many people from so many places about the types of photography they enjoy and what ideas they were getting from being there.

Now when you stop laughing at me because you know how much I can talk, let me just share this. It was so nice to have three days of nothing but photography to think about.

So once again I want to say, “Thank you” and please think about joining us next year on July 11th, 12th, and 13th!

Meghan shares her experience with us:

This year’s NECCC conference was most definitely the peak of my summer. I had been looking forward to it for months, and it did not disappoint! It was so incredible to be surrounded by people who are just as passionate about photography as I am. I enjoyed being able to use digital camera and editing software lingo without getting a confused, blank stare as a response as I would from my own friends.

The conference’s full schedule kept me busy the whole weekend. I learned useful information in the lectures, especially when it comes to lighting. I went to the conference knowing lighting was my biggest weakness and hoped it could help me improve. I learned more effective ways of using speed lights and how to set up studio lighting for portraiture. The hands-on workshops gave me opportunities to play with some new equipment and learn some new techniques. The photo-ops were a great opportunity to test out some of those techniques I learned in both the lectures and in the workshops. Any down time I had, I was out shooting around the campus with the other students who also taught me a few things. They were great to shoot with and bounce ideas off of.

The speakers were incredibly helpful with any questions I had. They were happy to help out with anything. In fact, all of the attendees were wonderful to talk to. I enjoyed chatting with many people about their photographic experiences. I spoke with a gentleman on the first day who once photographed Marilyn Monroe as well as Bob Hope. And of course, the support from everyone was so encouraging. I enjoyed every aspect of this year’s conference. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I hope to be back next year. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful weekend!
