Heavy Metal meets Christmas! While in Connecticut last week, I attended a concert by my favorite Christmas group, Trans Siberian. The auditorium at Mohegan Sun was alive with their sound. From the balcony I managed to get these few shots. . .

Surprisingly, it was not taken by Ansel Adams or Amy Leibowitz but it fetched a mere $4,3000,000 at a recent auction. I wondered how this image would fare at any local camera club competition.  Without further ado, here is Andreas Gursky’s  ”Rhein II”

Am I missing something here????

Got a chance tonight to play around with some fun photo ops. Roy Marshall from Cranberry County CC set up several stations in Plymouth for us to shoot.

Joined that “other” camera club to our west (Stony Brook) for a weekend in Acadia. As you know the weather was exceptional and the photo ops were unending!

Hi everybody – I didn’t want to email this out and invade everybody’s inbox, but figured the blog would be a good place for this. I’m selling my Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II VC (Vibration Control – “Image Stabilization” in Canon-speak) lens. I’m scrounging up funds to upgrade to a 5D, and this being an EF-S mount is the first to go. I didn’t use it much, so it’s pretty much impossible to tell from new – only thing missing from how it came from the store is part of the top of the box which I had to cut out to send in for a rebate. Comes with front/back caps, lens hood, box, and documentation. It’s $600 after rebate new, I have it listed elsewhere for $500, but will sell to a friend for $450.

Kathy E, Pat B. and I headed out to Griswold Ct for our sunset/sunrise trip to the sunflower fields – worth every minute of the trip, from dinner at Mystic Pizza to a beautiful sunset, meeting up with Ralph in the morning and a trip to the vineyards.  Good shots, good friends, good times.

I was unable to meet up with Mariann and the others on Sunday so I did a solo trip on Wednesday. I bumped into Jacob Mosser of Greater Lynn, Peter and Steve of Stony Brook and a few other familiar faces. With the help of a local resident I was able to forego my first choice for dinner – an ice cream sundae and had something more substantial.

Here are a few of my keepers. . .

The weather forecasters had it right this morning as they had predicted a severs thunderstorm would be moving into West Bridgewater shortly – and, shortly it did. I just had time to grab my camera and point it toward the skies  before they opened up! After the lightning had quieted down, I positioned myself on my screeened-in porch and shot through the screen for the last one.

“Close Encounters” I saw this same cloud formation in the movie of the same name. Still waiting for the Mother Ship – how did that musical greeting go :)
