I was unable to meet up with Mariann and the others on Sunday so I did a solo trip on Wednesday. I bumped into Jacob Mosser of Greater Lynn, Peter and Steve of Stony Brook and a few other familiar faces. With the help of a local resident I was able to forego my first choice for dinner – an ice cream sundae and had something more substantial.
Here are a few of my keepers. . .
The weather forecasters had it right this morning as they had predicted a severs thunderstorm would be moving into West Bridgewater shortly – and, shortly it did. I just had time to grab my camera and point it toward the skies before they opened up! After the lightning had quieted down, I positioned myself on my screeened-in porch and shot through the screen for the last one.
“Close Encounters” I saw this same cloud formation in the movie of the same name. Still waiting for the Mother Ship – how did that musical greeting go
This year, instead of the traditional showcase featuring a world class photographer, the organizers brought in three hot-air balloons! For the night segment, there were inflated and then fired up to glow. In the morning, there were scheduled to launch but weather at the touch down site was uncooperative. Hence, a no go!
Here are a few shots I got with my new D7000. . .
Phil called early Sunday morning as I was readying myself for church with an offer too good to be true. He had an extra VIP Pass for the Marathon and would I be interested? Would I? You bet I would!
We got there early, took a few shots near the finish line and sat to wait for the athletes. Thanks to Homeland Security and other factors, we had to leave our great seats and pass through baggage screening. About a half hour later we returned to the bleachers and watched the Jumbotron to see the action on the course.
We were soon rewarded with the first wave of finishers – the Wheelchair Division. There was a great Men’s photo-finish for second place between W3 (Kringe Schubot) and W1 (Ernst Von Dyk). The Women’s Wheelchair grouping was not far behind with the likes of Jacqui Kapinowski (W107) and Emily McQueen (W102). In burst mode I was able to get several shots of each participant. An 8GB card doesn’t last that long shooting in RAW and frequent multiple exposures.
