The sun was out and the weather was cooperating with us for most of  ”Jeff Turner’s first annual bridal shoot bonanza.”  The HDP group started out at Houghton’s pond in Milton.  The happy couple,  Brittany and Craig,  showed up dressed to the nines exactly as they were for their REAL wedding. Brittany posed with beautiful arrangements from Pillsbury florist thanks to Mariann. The make-up was professionally and neatly done by Makeup Artist Eleni Demetra. Mariann also informed us that when we finished at Houghton’s pond there would be a “surprise” down the street. About a thousand shots later we piled in our cars and drove down the street to the red barn on the left (that is exactly how we were directed to the next location). When we pulled in the driveway to the red barn we were pleasantly surprised to find Mariann had lined up her friend’s blue British “Morgan” roadster for us to shoot and for the bride and groom to pose in. What a marvelous surprise.  The large red barn with a sleek Morgan posing along side driven by Brittany and Craig. What a scene! Well that’s how the day went it was fun and I ended up with some good images.. I will post a few of my favorites. Thanks again to Jeff for arranging the trip…Matt Wood…enjoy!

Shot from behind the Federal Courthouse

We may have been small in numbers but we captured a lot of images of Boston in those three hours! Tip of the lens cap to Jeff W. for driving us (Chris D. and me) in, finding great spots to set up and shoot and for getting us home safely!

These are Rich Reynolds photos from yesterday’s whale watching excursion:

On Saturday, 15 May 2010, seven HDP members met for a morning of photography at Battleship Cove in Fall River. It was a sunny and windy day and John D. was a very informative guide. I think that I speak for all when I say “A good time was had!”

Here is a selection of photos:

Here are a few of images from my couple of hours at the Civil War Encampment yesterday…

I was in the middle of port-processing these images when I decided to convert one of them to black and white and then to a sepia-tone. At this point, I realized that the color versions of these folks in period costume were not working… they simply did not look quite right… so I converted all of the images to either black and white or to sepia. Much better in my opinion!

All of my photos from the day can be found here: http://photo.gorga.org/temporary_portfolios/66/thumb.html

Four of us made it to Lakeville this morning to see and photograph the Hallamore Clydesdales… I can’t speak for the others but I enjoyed the trip!

Here are two photos…

<New>

I had so much fun Sunday, that I (and my wife, Joan) went back again on Monday. Joe, Phil and Pat (for the second time, as well) were in attendance too.   Thanks to Mike for making it happen!

I took more photos of bulldogs than of the horses today. The light today (bright sun, with a few scattered clouds) did not make for good outdoors shooting. The horses, with coats that are both white and dark brown, have too much contrast. The overcast skies of yesterday were much more conducive for photography of the horses in their open (i.e. no shade to be had) paddocks.

Anyway, here another couple of images…

This is Harley. The fellows working at the stable said that he used to go to all of the parades and ride up in the wagon. He doesn’t get to go anymore because he gets motion sick! But man, he is one photogenic dog!

Here is a photo of Mack, the other bulldog who was present…

For those that do not know this is the hood ornament (and corporate logo) for Mack Trucks… the Hallamore Clydesdales ride to parades in high style… two large Mack rigs are needed to get them and their wagon where they need to be.

A few more photos (including one of a horse, imagine that!)  in a second installment on my website: http://photo.gorga.org/temporary_portfolios/63/thumb.html

Five of us made it to the Roger Williams Park in Providence today. I think that I speak for all when I say we had a good time.

Here are four of the photos I took there. Comments are most certainly welcome.

Maybe others who were there will also post images… hint, hint! ;-)

Looking at Saturday March 20 @ 10:00 AM for our trip to the Botanical Gardens – Who would be interested?  Tripods and macro lense and a ride to Providence is all that is needed.

I do have room for 4 or 5 in my car if the ride is holding you back.  Entrance cost is $3.00.  Let me know if you are interested.  A group of 10 or more gets a discount and you don’t even have to be a senior!
