                 Mike: " Great colorful abstract extraction of nature.

                       Tight crop concentrate attention on colors and composition.

                       Good DOF sharpness and contrast

 

"Burrowing Owl" - Rick               13 pts.

                        

                           Mike: "Owl has good sharpness thoughout bird,

                                 background is nice and soft, a little bit of foreground blur,

                                 Good positioning of owl looking back over shoulder and

                                 back into center of image.

 

"Goshawk" - Pat                                    13 pts.   

              

                Mike: "A good image of Hawk with fair sharpness.

                      Close background prevents softening.

                      Backlighting leaves bird a little flat in contrast texture

 

"Glow Jellies" - Jeff T.     13 pts.

                              

                               Mike: "Good detail and sharpness

                                        black background makes jellyfish stand out,

                                        Could add a 1 or 2 pixel wide edge to define

                                           limits of image on a black screen when projected.                                              Unfortunately in Nature you can’t remove the 2nd jellyfish in

                                            background which is blurry and distracting.

 

"Hummingbird on Scarlet Flame" - Rich        12 pts.

              

                  Mike: "Good freezing of wing motion and

                     good position with wings backwards.

                     Good complimentary colors of soft green background and red flowers.

                     I see no need for the red edge.

 

"Juvenile Osprey" - Jim                                   12pts.

              

                  Mike: "Osprey nicely lit, sharp

                     good yellow eye stands out with complimentary blue sky.

                     Too much sky and nest sticks needs cropping top, bottom and right.

 

              "Tree Frog" - George                                    11 pts.

 

              

                  Mike: "Good face to face look at frog.

                     DOF is just on the edge of not enough.

                     Foreground blurry so crop it out.
